The Jonathan Batiste Trio - piano and melodica.
Jonathan Batiste is a member of a long lineage of musicians from the Batiste family of Louisiana. Introduced to music at the age of eight, Jonathan played percussion in his family’s band, the Batiste Brothers Band. By the age of 16 years old, he could be seen performing with some of New Orleans' most outstanding and respected musicians like the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra and Wynton Marsalis. In 2004 Batiste graduated from the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts as a premier young performer and went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. While at Juilliard, Batiste made his debut at Carnegie Hall, received the “Movado Future Legend Award”, and returned to Carnegie Hall to produce and compose his own show.
More recently, Batiste was a featured member of the 2008 NBA All-Star Game Halftime show and performed with Allen Toussaint, Harry Connick Jr., Ellis Marsalis, Art Neville, Ivan Neville, and Davell Crawford.
